Founded by a mother and daughter in the Dominican Republic, our shop began as a two-woman project—and it still carries that personal touch today.
Over 15 years later, we’re proud to share our passion for Larimar and our island’s craftsmanship with customers around the world.
How It All Started
It all began as a dream. At the time, I was working full-time as an executive at one of the largest telecom companies in the Dominican Republic. After becoming a mother, my priorities shifted—I found myself trying to balance the demands of work and family (still figuring that part out!). When my second child was born, something clicked: I knew I wanted to build something I truly loved while creating more space for the people who mattered most.
Meanwhile, my mom had long been immersed in the artisan world. Through her work with local craftspeople and international tourism groups, she had formed close relationships with many of the Dominican Republic’s most talented artisans.
Together, we shared a vision: to showcase the incredible artistry of our island to the world. Jewelry made by hand, rooted in tradition, passed down through generations—featuring timeless designs and clean, classic lines. That vision became The Larimar Shop.
Our First Steps
We dreamed of creating Larimar jewelry exclusively for #LarimarLovers around the world. With that vision in mind, we started small—working with a modest selection of pieces handcrafted by two artisans we had known and trusted for years (they’re still our lead artisans today).
To our surprise, the response was overwhelming. The appreciation for our jewelry quickly grew, and so did our need to expand. That’s when I made the decision to leave my job of 13 years and fully dedicate myself to this journey.
More than a decade later, I can confidently say this has been the most rewarding and exciting chapter of my life. Our mission remains the same: to celebrate the artistry of Dominican craftsmanship—and to share the magic of our one-of-a-kind Larimar stone with the world.
Where We Are Today
While we’ve grown over the years, we’ve stayed true to our roots. We continue to work hand in hand with our core group of artisans—many of whom have been with us since the beginning—while welcoming a new generation of talented young artists into our workshop. Their fresh perspective keeps our collections evolving, without ever losing the artisanal essence that defines us.
Today, we strive to source our Larimar directly from the miners, allowing us to offer you the finest quality in every piece. Every jewel is thoughtfully designed, hand-selected, and made in small batches—so it feels just as special as the stone itself.
And yes, we still get excited every time we pack and ship an order. To us, it’s more than just a parcel—it’s a way to share a piece of the Dominican Republic with Larimar lovers around the world, offering something beautiful, meaningful, and fairly priced.

DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP
Each design in our workshop begins with the creativity of our team of artisans. Our inspiration comes from the essence of the Larimar Blue and its bold, distinct patterns. We think of feminine styles that allow us to maintain the romanticism in each piece, that at the same time exalt the strength and originality of each woman with avant-garde fashions that never go out of style.
Each design is conceived to highlight the authenticity within each of us, making every creation a unique piece even when there is more than one.
The diversity in our Larimar patterns and our Amber tones make each piece UNIQUE.
Our expert jewelers then use the highest quality materials from precious metals—from 925 Silver to 14k gold and 18k gold vermeil, to ethically sourced AAA-grade Larimar gemstones.
PRECIOUS METALS
Every material we use, along with the craftsmanship of each piece, must pass our test for everyday wear. We purposefully work with 14k gold, sterling silver, vermeil, and particular gemstones or fossils to complement Larimar for that reason.
It's standard practice to alloy pure silver with more rigid materials to improve its strength. The Larimar Shop uses sterling silver, the most popular silver alloy; at least 92.5% pure silver (AKA 925 silver), whereas the remaining 7.5% can be made up of other metals, most commonly copper. 925 silver is ideal for jewelry use as it preserves the color and luster of pure silver while significantly improving the meta's durability.
Our 14k gold fine jewelry is made to be worn every day. Compared to 18k gold, 14k gold is far more durable, so you can sweat, shower, and sleep in your pieces. It will scratch less and will continue to maintain its champagne-hued shine.
Similarly, our gold vermeil is a premium material crafted to last—and superior to gold plating due to its thick layer of 18k gold over sterling silver, which is in and of itself a highly enduring precious metal. In comparison, gold plating is typically a thin layer of gold over a less durable metal such as copper, brass, or, sometimes, alloys, such as nickel or zinc-based.
