R-FINDS Global Launch Event: Bringing Dominican Heritage to the World Stage

When we first received the invitation to participate in the R-FINDS Global Launch Event in Chicago on November 19, we felt an overwhelming mix of excitement and gratitude. Being selected as one of only 10 brands, out of over 200 submissions worldwide, was an honor that reaffirmed the uniqueness and cultural value of The Larimar Shop and the gemstone we hold so close to our hearts. 

This event, hosted by Renaissance Hotels and the renowned influencer Sophia Roe, was not just about showcasing products. It was about celebrating culture, craftsmanship, and the beauty of destinations around the world. Held at the stunning Renaissance Chicago Downtown, the event brought together artisans, retailers, influencers, and global media to experience a curated marketplace that was as inspiring as it was diverse.

A Stage for Larimar

For us, this was more than an opportunity to display our Larimar jewelry. It was a chance to share a piece of Dominican heritage. Larimar, a rare gemstone found only in the Dominican Republic, carries the essence of the Caribbean—its ocean-blue hues, unique patterns, and one-of-a-kind beauty. Being able to tell its story to a global audience was a privilege that left us feeling deeply connected to our roots.

We showcased a curated selection of almost 20 styles. Among the pieces selected by R-FINDS were the Melek Earrings, Omer Bracelet, and Rye Bracelet. Each piece was chosen to highlight the versatility and natural beauty of Larimar, and we were thrilled to see the awe and admiration it sparked among attendees. It was clear that the story of Larimar, combined with its unique aesthetic, resonated with people from all walks of life.

Connections That Inspire

One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was the friendships and connections we made. Among the vendors, we found kindred spirits—artisans and creators who shared the same passion for their craft. The Colombian-Venezuelan team behind exquisite handbags, Suraquia, and the talented Mexican women creating breathtaking textiles and clothing, Amorío, were just a few of the amazing individuals we had the privilege of meeting. These interactions reminded us that creativity knows no borders and that community can be built wherever there is shared purpose and vision. 

The Spirit of R-FINDS

The atmosphere of the event was nothing short of magical. From the flawless organization to the warm hospitality of the Renaissance Hotels team, every detail was thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable experience. The energy in the room, the excitement of the guests, and the genuine appreciation for artisan work made this an event like no other.

We’re especially grateful for the opportunity to have our work potentially featured in the media coverage by notable names like Sophia Roe and Wallpaper Magazine. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do and inspire us to continue sharing Larimar with the world.

As we return to our roots in the Dominican Republic, we carry with us the lessons, inspiration, and friendships forged in Chicago. We’re excited to continue growing, creating, and representing the beauty of Larimar on the global stage.
